Creating Content Management Groups
– an Essential Step
An important aspect of setting up your Document/Content Management system is determining which users will belong to what groups. With EZContentManager, rights are generally granted to groups as opposed to individual users.
The group or groups that a user is a member of plays a role in which folders they are able to access and their ability to perform certain actions within these folders. Some of these actions, better known as user rights, include the ability to modify files, modify subfolders, and delete files and folders. In EZContentManager, you can make it so a group never even sees a folder that they don’t have access to when they log in.
A good practice for the Content Management system administrator is to formulate a rough draft determining folder structure, groups and rights before doing anything in EZContentManager. This will save a lot of time.
Once you have your structure outlined, creating a group in EZContentManager is very easy. You just give the group a name, description, and then add the users. There is no limit to the number of members allowed within a group or to the number of groups in which a user may have membership. If you later need to make changes to the group name, description, and users who have membership in that group, these can be quickly edited as necessary. (Group Management is found under the Administrative Tools menu in EZContentManager.)
